Las Vegas, Nevada Tinnitus Treatment
The American Tinnitus Association estimates that 50 million Americans experience persistent noise in their ears; almost a quarter of these people have such severe tinnitus that they are driven to seek medical attention. At our practice in Las Vegas, Nevada we provide tinnitus treatment that has a very high success rate, achieving a significant improvement for the vast majority of patients.
What is Tinnitus?
Tinnitus is classified as any sounds heard in the head or ears that are not externally produced. People who have tinnitus hear a constant noise, often a ringing sound, though tinnitus may also create roaring, hissing, chirping, or other sounds. The severity of tinnitus can vary widely – it may be barely noticeable, or it may be a constant annoyance.
Many things can cause tinnitus, ranging from head injuries, to inner ear damage, to ear wax. The first step is to have a full tinnitus evaluation to rule out any medical concerns and determine which category of tinnitus you may have. Fortunately, for patients who qualify, we are able to achieve a reduction in the amount of tinnitus at our Las Vegas, Nevada practice, through tinnitus treatment using Tinnitus Restraining Therapy (TRT). In a clinical study with more than 1,000 patients that used the TRT protocol, 80 percent reported significant improvement in their tinnitus.
Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT)
Audiology Associates of Las Vegas is the only approved clinic in Nevada to offer Tinnitus Retraining Therapy. TRT was developed by Dr. Pawel Jastreboff (see www.tinnitus-pjj.com) to help people with tinnitus and/or hyperacusis (hypersensitivity to sounds). TRT is a comprehensive approach that includes both directive counseling and sound therapy for 12 to 24 months. No longer do you have to just "learn to live with it". If tinnitus and/or hyperacusis are affecting your quality of life, contact our practice in Las Vegas, Nevada to see if you qualify for tinnitus treatment with TRT!
